It has been known for some time that Ani Lorak will represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest. Tonight's Ukrainian selection process was merely to determine which song Ani would sing in Belgrade.
Despite being originally billed as a four song selection, five songs actually made it to the final, and were performed in the running order as follows:
1. Zhdu Tebya (Waiting For You) 2. Ya Stanu Morem (I'll Become Like Sea) 3. The Dream Of A Brighter Day 4. I'll Be Your Dady 5. Shady Lady

The winning song is composed and written by Philip Kirkorov and Karen Kavaleryan who were also responsible for the 2007 Belarus entry Work Your Magic from Koldun. Karen Kavaleryan also wrote the lyrics to the Armenian entry Anytime You Need by Hayko in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, and Never Let You Go by Dima Bilan in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest.
