Sergeys commitment and persistence in every matter he sets himself to have led to an outstanding result by 24 this young singer has achieved a lot, and after every achieved goal he immediately sets another one.

Everything begun with sport, when the four-years-old Sergey engaged himself in gymnastics. Taking part in competitions and winning different prizes, Sergey came to understand that he can and he must achieve everything with painstaking work and full preoccupation.

Together with this understanding another thought came to him he was not a true sports fan, because he was not completely devoted to sport and then a new hobby and a new dream appeared Sergey became keen on taking the first prize in the Morning Star contest a very popular contest of children groups and young singers. He gave up sport for music and was completely and forever absorbed in it. And again years of study, work in different childrens groups, which finally led him to the fulfillment of his most cherished dream of that time the victory in the Morning Star contest.

My whole childhood was connected with stage, audience, happiness of victory and goal achieving, wish of self-perfection, when I had to go through failures and defeats. But I never doubted that I will proceed with music activity, moreover, I never even thought about this, I just knew it is going to be like this and in no other way, says Lazarev.

And everything Sergey has done by the present time, proves his words the best way. Sergey and his friends were part from the Neposedy (Trotters) children group (the girls from t.A.T.u also sang in this group, and Julia Volkova is Sergeys halfsister) and one of them, Vlad Topalov decided to sing in a duet and recorded the aria BELLE from the musical Notre Dame De Paris.

Within a short period this aria recorded by the new duet became a hit, and that moment was a new step in Sergeys career as a singer in SMASH!! duet. The video Belle remained the leader of MTV-Russia chart for 6 months, and entered the Top 20 of Videos of the last five years.

In addition, Sergey started to take theater classes, he finished the course and he was part of the Romeo & Juliet acting as Romeo in the Moscows Theater.

The boys were compared to many groups at that time, they were called Alternative t.A.T.u, and The 21th century Wham! - because the first manager of SMASH!! was Simon Neiper-Bell, who was the manager of Wham! twenty years ago.

In February 2003 their first album Freeway was released, and almost immediately it became gold, more than a million copies were sold in Russia and in Southeast Asian countries. Each single from the album Freeway headed the charts in Russia and CIS countries.

In 2004, their second album 2Nite was released at the same time Freeway was released in Southeast Asia, (namely iin Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong-Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India, Philippines), where it hit tops of all charts.

During the promo-tour followed by this album, a video on a cover version of George Michaels hit Faith was made.

In the same year, SMASH!! worked together with the Italian group EARPHONES recording the song Obsession. After the premiere on the radio Obsession became the best hit of summer 2004. In September it was released in Italy.

In 2004 SMASH!! won the prize of MTV RMA 2004 as The best Pop-Project of the Year. Two Smash!! albums have beaten all records of sales, and became platinum. Altogether, Sergey Lazarev participated in 7 videos and gave more than 1000 live concerts.

Sergey has millions of fans and a huge amount of fan-clubs in Russia, CIS and Southeast Asian countries, and all his fans were looking forward to his solo career.
