Confirmation note (Greece):

Sakis Rouvas, Greece's superstar that represented his country in the Eurovision song contest 2004 and also been the host in 2006 in Athens is going to represent Greece in Moscow.

Sakis Rouvas declared in his last interview to Nitro radio last month that he wants to represent Greece again in the Eurovision and ERT has made his wish a reality. According to Mad television, Sakis accepted immediatelly ERT's offer and he is going represent his country for the second time next year in Moscow.

The composer of the song will be Dimitris Kontopoulos, who's also composed Sakis latest summer hit Kai se thelo (And I want you). Dimitris Kontopoulos has also composed Ani Lorak's song Shady lady and Kostas Martakis song Always and forever (Greece NF 2008).

These countries may leave the contest in 09:
Andorra - poor results in past, will decide in Sep. I think their songs are v gd!! especially 07/08
Georgia - v gd results only participated twice but might not go to Moscow because of recent war
FYRM (Macedonia) - poor results, plus their eurochannel is run by government so they decide. they mat not be able to afford it
Poland - poor results, will decide in Oct. Again i thought they were brill in 07/08!
San Marino - v. poor results (dead last only 5pts) but it is v likely they will participate

I'm sure san marino will go again because it was only their first time so they probably didn't know what to expect, and it'll look bad for them to go only once and not go again just cause they did badly.

Montenegro has not yet confirmed participation but they must do this by late 2008 - i dont see why they wouldnt be present!

Bad news for Russia as they may not be allowed to host the contest in 2009 because of very bad relations between many different countries and Russia. Channel 1 Russia is adament that they will be efficient in hosting the contest but other countries worry especially Georgia due to recent war.

If the EBU decide not to let Russia host the contest, it is likely the host will be Kyiv, Ukraine for coming 2nd 2008.

*eyeroll* Why do they worry so much? Till next year will be everything alright, the war down there is already finished, russian troops are going away there. There were always, and will be always conflicts with Georgia. Also it would be unfair, because Russia won the ESC this year and now they deserve it to host it too. It would be unfair to let the Ukrainains host the ESC, when someone else, then please a country which didn't host the ESC once in the history please (think what you want now, it's my opinion)
