It is part of Georgia because Stalin made it part of Georgia, but actually it is the same situation like in Kosovo :P They never wanted to be part of Georgia or Russia or anything else

Kosovo always was the part of Serbia and they have no right to be independent because Albanians have their own country - Albania. The same thing is with Ossetia, Russians already have their country

Ossetia is not russian. And Russia doesn't want it to be part of them. The ossetians and abhasians just want to be independant.

BTW since a few hours are South Ossetia and Abhasia independent

They're not independent until other countries support them and, as far as I know, only Russia did it because they can't stand Georgia. How primitive!

I think all these silly little countries are a bit silly to want to be independant. Louie you are right, albania has their own country, they don't need kosovo too. It's like a random city wanting to be independant, they have no right for it.

Just because a country is small does not mean it cant be independent!!!
South Ossetia & Abhasia have always been more Russian (they say) & Russia did have a right to interefere because it was on her border and she would look weak if she didnt. What we are all seeing is British & American propganda!!!

As for independence I think that if an area or an old country (like Kosovo) has very different culture and people then they should be independent which is exactly why the celts (Scotland, N Ireland & Wales) & the Tibetans should be independent too!!!
Everyone has the right to fair rule (e.g. Wales doesnt have her own Parliament)

It doesn't matter if the country is small or big. Kosovo is historical part of Serbia. What would happen if Provence wants to become independent country? How would France react? And nations have their own right to rule over their territory, but if they already have the country, they have no right to make another one. If it's different, then Chinese could make another country in New York (China Town) or Italians of Little Italy etc.

You can't make me to shut up, first of all! You asked a question, I gave you the answer. There's nothing wrong with Liechtenstein, Luxembourg or Andorra because they're all recognized and members of UN. When Croatia declared to be independent country, it was nothing until UN accepted us as a member. Ossetia, Abhasia and Kosovo aren't members of UN and their "independency" means nothing.

but UN (bar Russia mainly) has accepted independence of Kosovo but then America & UK turn around on Russia when Russia does the same thing

Iv also gotta say I am a massive nationalist & i am always camaigning for the independence of Wales, Scotland & N Ireland as well as the independence of any country unsatisfied or opressed with their rulers like Kosovo, S Ossetia & Abhazhia and what you have to remember is that Kosovo did not choose to be a part of Serbia nor Ossetia/Abhazhia a part of Georgia - It is the fault of the US & UK that these problems are happening as it is mainly them who put these different nationalities together.

Kosovo is still not the member of UN. I understand you, Liam. Croatia was in similar position in recent history. But think about how would you feel or how would your government react if, for example, Cardiff wanted to be an independent state. That's how Georgians feel right now. And Kosovo is historical part of Serbia. Serbians originate from that area so just imagine what do they think or how they feel about this situation.
