Did Dmitry Koldun find the own sounding of music? How does he compose the songs? What can we expect from his album? What does he think of his image? Is opinion of listeners important for him? You can find answers to these questions in our interview (specially for site www.koldun.name).

-  Dima, does your music reflect a reality or its duty is to entertain and help to forget bad things?
- My music is my mood in the moment of its composing. When I feel bad, the songs turn out sad, and vice versa. What effect it causes, depends on personality of everyone. Of course everyone can not love my music. There is what I name creation. No frameworks and borders. Sometimes I do not have enough notes to give all feelings in music. There are songs, essence of which I do not understand. But if they were born, let them live!

- What do you wish to express in the music and texts atmosphere and feelings first of all?
- Yes. Most precisely to tell, that exactly atmosphere and it is even more exact  post-taste which remains upon the end of song. It happens sometimes that music obeys hard, but when it comes to an end you feel good. There is a larger difficulty with texts. There are more words than notes in thousands times. To repeat means to lose. Though sometimes stamps save all. Simply does not mean badly. It is always interesting to play on contrasts: love hatred, life death... A quantity of musicals is constructed on it, and it is always actual. «Star and death of Hoakin Mureta» is about the same, and it is not banal.

- What themes in songs are uninteresting to you and you would not sing about them?
- Almost any themes are interesting to me. Another matter that in a song there should be any riddle, mystery. Sometimes I was interested by very rare themes. At school there was a group with my schoolmates Vitaly Odintsov and Alexey Erastov which was called «The Heavy wheel plough». Songs of this guitar trio were basically about agricultural themes. In these songs it was sung about granaries, vegetables, watering hoses... We did not forget seasons too: so there was a song in the Belarusian language "Suka-sakavik". Its a remarkable song about gladness from arrival of spring. On the whole, these were songs about the nature. Group is not present for a long time already, and I dont sing about these themes. It is necessary to tell that the true love has come to my life late enough, when I was 15 years old. Then I began to write songs with verses like «With you, to run up and to jump, there, where only silence and ice! To fly up, run up and to jump, there, where anybody will not find us...» (A song To jump 2000). However, then I tried to write verses to the music myself. So the different themes are interesting. Another matter is in what appearances they open up through.

- You have found the own sound or there will be a lot of changes?
- I have certain experience, but I cannot count on it in finding of own sound. It is an area new for me. Work and record with a live collective its very difficult. And I still should to learn many things. It is very heavy to find the sound at once. Knowingly, when I appealed for a help to Dmitry Chetvergov, he noticed that would not work, if Ill limit him to any interval of time. It is impossible to be engaged in creativity quickly.

- What definition would you give to your music?
- I do not like to give any definitions. It seems to me that its, again, adjustment under a format. The format is the form, clear to intelligence and soul. I like to create, and let scientists or critics to give definitions... Pushkin was criticised a lot by everyone. But as a result we remember only him and his poems...

- What about your concert activity?
- All is good! But not everyone can to invite an artist with musicians and live sound. Im essentially for live sound. Naturally, it is always impossible on television shootings, but nevertheless we try to sing live.

- Do you plan to shoot a videoclip on the main song of the future album? Will there be a tour in its support?
- Yes, I will shoot a clip. Fairly, I have not decided yet what the scenario will be. But it will not be «One day of Koldun's life». I plan that the scenario I will write myself. The tour isn't discussed at all: we will perform everywhere where there is a "live" sound.

- Will the professional designer make out your future album or maybe you will try to make it yourself?
- I did not think seriously about the design of the album yet. There are certain ideas. I think, I will tell about them to the designer and I will wait for a masterpiece. Everyone should do its work.

- What can we expect from your album, are there plans about time of its release?
- We plan to present the album in the end of February. I guarantee that you will not find me out. Certainly, there is no purpose to cross out all old. It will be harmonious accord of music, energy and sense. The album will include more than ten original compositions. There will be also absolutely new songs unknown even to most interested admirers.

- Will you make any special presentation of the album?
- Yes, of course! And I will invite all. I am confident that I will not disappoint all who will come.

- Do you have any competitors or it will be a niche that until you nobody occupied?
- I never thought about it. Now a large number of young collectives make their way to the stage. There is always competition, but in such music it's fairer.

- Are you going to sing in the future covers of any songs?
- While I am not going to do it. I sang already enough cover-versions at various competitions and projects. I have a lot of songs. I think that now I would be able to release three albums. Though basically I'm not against this idea.

- If you had an opportunity, with whom would you wish to sing, and maybe, work?
- I have already sung with all artists with whom I wanted and did not want to sing. Let me work myself finally! But I would not refuse from good a sound-production; it is a useful and important thing. I would like to perform with my musicians, and more than once. Since I sing with a "live" sound I feel that I have a power that will suffice for a long time.

- Tell us about how the recording of songs takes place. Share a few secrets of "musical kitchen".
- There are some ways, but we usually make it in this way  at first we record the rhythm section (drums + a bass-guitar), and then all the rest instruments. This is a very rough explanation, but a record order is the important thing! I am present on record of all instruments and I watch closely, that all was good. I do not understand all, and it is necessary to resort to the help of the sound-producer. And who he is I will write on a cover of my album. The most important thing in the recording is the rest. When an ear gets tired, there is no sense in the recording. Therefore breaks happen each hour.

- What music do you listen to? For example what songs are in your player?
- I listen to very different music  from «Moby» to «Slipknot». It depends on my mood. I try to monitor new trends. Fashion is important, especially in a sound. Of course, all albums of «Bon Jovi» are always in my car.

- Do you go to concerts of other singers?
- Recently I was at a concert of group "Slipknot" and I was amazed and surprised one time. I was amazed by professionalism of musicians and surprised by that fans of metal photographed with me. Music works miracles and brings us together!

- Would you like to try to sing in other musical styles?
- I like to sing rap at leisure. I don't know how to do it, but I love it. Therefore I do it at home )))

- Is image an important point in your carrier or it's enough to play class music, acting in simple jeans and black / white shirts?
- Everything must be harmonious. It depends on the person. Someone stands in a mask and never shows the true face. Someone constantly becomes bare, trying to express itself thereby. I experiment and I know that I am on a right way...

- Someone uses music for self-expression, someone looking for glory. And what about you?
- «And I, seigneurs, don't need something better» Joaquin Murieta sang. But I need! I always have not enough of all, even when only it is a lot of all. The main things for me are development and creative movement. Give me express myself and to become famous, and I will not relax anyway.

- How exactly do you record, or rather, play melodies of the future songs, before to finish them with professionals? Maybe you use notes?

- I am ashamed, but the note is like Arabian language for me. I know only that the note "do" is at a more bottom-line. So, in my case, the music is in my heart and it is impossible to write it down on a paper... Sometimes I sit down the instrument particularly on purpose to write something, and I start to think out. But, it is necessary to notice that to write thus music for myself and for order are different things. Therefore I never offered anybody the songs and melodies. Though one of my songs «My dreams» even was executed by my old friend Denis Lis with whom we have got acquainted on the project «Star Stagecoach». He has written verses and I have decided to present it to him. It is a pity that its life was short.

- On what musical instruments do you know (or at least try) to play except the guitar? For example, a piano, a synthesizer.
- I compose some songs playing a guitar. Recently I have got a synthesizer which writes down on the USB not only music, but also a voice. Thus the almost ready demo-version turns out. It is very convenient and it is possible to record in any condition, practically by one finger )))) Also I have the tambourine. It helps me often.

- Is the opinion of listeners important for you? Do you rewrite something in the song when suddenly the majority does not like the sound?
- Any opinion is important for me. But last word always remains for me. I said that my songs cannot be pleasant to everyone. For this reason there is a lot of different music in the world. My Internet-radio "KOLDUN" helps me to get opinions from different people. And some of them might not be fans of my music. Sometimes it is useful. Advice and you will be heard!
