Minsk to host Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010

The EBU Steering Group of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest already picked the destination for the 2010 edition of the contest. The bid to host the 8th Junior Eurovision Song Contest was won by Belarusian broadcaster BTRC, which will host the competition at the brand new 'Minsk Arena' in the country's capital. The 'Minsk Arena', to be completed by the end of this year, can host up to 15,000 spectators.

Svante Stockselius, the Executive Supervisor of the event on behalf of the EBU, said: "Belarus is a committed participant of the Eurovision Song Contest and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and won the latter twice. Moreover, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is one of Belarus' most popular television shows. Finally, BTRC's bid to host the competition gave the Steering Group the confidence that they are capable of hosting the competition."

The Belarusian bid to host the competition was supported by no one less than Alexander Rybak, who won this year's Eurovision Song Contest for Norway with the song 'Fairytale'. The 23-year old singer was born in the Belarusian capital Minsk and moved to Norway at the age of 4. The preliminary date for next year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest is Saturday, November 20, 2010.

Competing to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the year 2010 along with Belarus where Malta and Russia. The latter, the host country of the Eurovision Song Contest for this year might have not been fully ready to host yet Malta should have been given the priveledge having been close to host a contest in recent years yet always missing out.

I think they should hold it in Croatia sometime also, I know they have wanted to host it since 2004 :P

Belarus...have won twice which is 1 time more than the others LOL
And I think only 1 place the've gotten that hasn't been in top 10...but maybe that's fair for them cause in ESC they haven't got the same luck...wink.gif

I read that this year it's gonna be in Kiev!!! I think it's gonna be in the same venue as ESC 2005 was held in....At least if I remember it right..:D
